SENIOR PROGRAMS are designed to maintain or improve the the functioning level of seniors by addressing their mind, body, and spirit with: healthy congregate meals, assisted transportation, outreach programs, and health education and screenings. Awareness of options and keeping our seniors informed is important in helping our seniors.
Senior programs are designed with one goal in mind—improving the quality of life for our seniors. Although many events focus on having fun, there is also a serious side to the program. Partnering with over 60 different community organizations, our seniors department fills the schedule with health screenings, exercise programs, educational programs, and awareness programs. We proudly partner with Grand Valley State University Kirkhof School of Nursing and Grand Rapids Community College School of Nursing to provide our seniors with screenings.
Most of the seniors live well below the poverty level and either live in adult foster care homes or senior housing. Access to services can be tough. Many of our seniors have had difficult lives and the Senior Program at UMCH is a great resource to help keep them active, engaged, and safe.
Seniors, if you have the ability to make a donation, we welcome your individual donations to help offset the costs of services, screenings, snacks, and additional meals.
Each month we have many great activities to help engage our seniors and keep them healthy in mind, body, and spirit. The calendar below outlines what we have coming up.
