Welcome to the Youth Development Department!
Programs for youth at UMCH include after-school activities at nine GRPS 21st-Century Learning Centers during the school year, and day camp during the summer months. In both programs, we provide school-aged children with opportunities to stay busy, learn new skills, strengthen social relationships, reinforce learning, and to have new experiences during the hours parents are traditionally at work.
What We Offer
The 21ST CENTURY PROGRAM is offered right in Grand Rapids Public Schools to provide school-aged youth with an opportunity to do homework and have structured recreational activities. Snacks are provided and the staff help create an atmosphere of fun and learning.
UMCH manages 9 of the GRPS 21st Century sites:
- Brookside Elementary
- Dickinson Academy
- Gerald R. Ford Academic Center
- Ken-O-Sha Park Elementary
- Kent Hills Elementary
- Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Academy
- Shawmut Hills Academy
- Sherwood Park Global Studies Academy
- Southwest Community Campus
To sign up, visit your school office. You can learn more about the program on the GRPS website.
Adventure Club is offered Monday-Friday for 9 weeks during the summer months. The club is open to all children ages 5-10. Each week is filled with fun, teamwork, crafts, field trips, music, and a curriculum to strengthen their academic skills. Breakfast and lunch are provided daily in this safe, affordable day program that keeps kids involved in positive activities all summer long.
2022 Adventure Club will run from June 20—August 12th. Click Here to register, call our service desk at (616) 452-3226 or fill out 2023 Adventure Club Registration and return to our office at 904 Sheldon Ave SE.
