Community Finish Line Campaign · 2026–2027

Help us reach the finish line

We’re building belonging, and the finish line is in sight. $300,000 is all that stands between Southtown and a fully finished Community House campus. A gift at any level, one-time or monthly, puts your fingerprints on the finish.

Why now

Previous generations built Community House. Together, this generation will help finish what comes next.

What is complete
$23M+
Already secured

United Methodist Community House has completed the largest expansion in its history, securing more than $23 million. Construction is under way.

The expansion transforms the UMCH campus with new program space, modernized facilities and community spaces, so Community House can serve Southtown for generations to come.

What is needed
$300,000
Community support needed by Aug. 1, 2027

A $300,000 bridge commitment from Pinnacle made the New Markets Tax Credit closing possible. UMCH must raise this amount by August 1, 2027 to bring the project to completion.

Major philanthropic partners have already invested significantly, and many have made a second gift to help narrow the gap. The Community Finish Line Campaign is for the people, families, businesses and organizations connected to Community House: a chance for our community to put its own fingerprints on this project.

Look how far we’ve come

Already open. Already serving.

Thanks to early leadership gifts and generous community support, many essential spaces are already complete. They aren’t just built. They’re active, welcoming and serving our community today.

Nothing inspires like seeing it in person

Introduce a friend, colleague or family member to the campaign, then schedule a campus tour together. Nothing inspires commitment like witnessing what’s being built.

The question is no longer whether the transformation will happen. The question is: how will the community help finish it?

Questions

Good to know

Can I spread my commitment out over time?

Yes. All commitments can be fulfilled over 36 months. Choose “Monthly” above to see the monthly amount for each gift level, for example $30/month for a $1,080 commitment or $694/month for $25,000. Monthly pledges end after 36 months: Carla Moore (cmoore@umchousegr.org) closes out each recurring gift after its 36th payment.

What is the deadline?

UMCH must raise the remaining $300,000 by August 1, 2027 to bring the project to completion. Three-year pledges are accepted.

Why is community support needed if $23 million is already secured?

A $300,000 bridge commitment from Pinnacle made the New Markets Tax Credit closing possible, and that amount must be raised to complete the project. We are deeply grateful to Pinnacle for gifting us the time to raise the remaining amount of funds necessary to complete the project. Major partners have already given, and many have given twice. This final stretch belongs to the community.

Where does my gift go?

Gifts made on this page are designated to the Capital Campaign and help complete the remaining spaces: recreation, fitness and wellness amenities, community and program spaces, the intergenerational art studio, the bus garage, the outdoor sports court and green space, and four new infant classrooms.

Are there other ways to give?

You can give by check payable to United Methodist Community House (904 Sheldon Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507), by transfer of stock, or by including UMCH in your will. Contact Carla Moore at 616-452-3226 to learn more.

Can my business or organization participate?
