UMCH Fitness Class Descriptions
Older Adult Classes (50+)
Zumba Gold
modified Zumba program designed for active older adults or those with mobility limitations, focusing on lower-impact, easy-to-follow dance routines that improve balance, coordination, and range of motion.
It emphasizes fun, social interaction, and overall fitness benefit.
Strong & Steady
Class format focuses on getting you stronger for all day activities with the main focus on balance and
core stability.
Chair Yoga
is a modified form of yoga where traditional yoga poses are practiced while sitting on or using a chair for support. It offers a gentler and more accessible way to experience the benefits of yoga, making it ideal for individuals with limited mobility. It works on balance utilizing the chair and gentle stretching while holding yoga poses to improve flexibility.
Intergenerational fitness Classes (ages 18+)
Zumba
combines dance and aerobic exercise, set to upbeat Latin and international music. It’s a fun, high-energy workout designed to burn calories and improve cardiovascular fitness, coordination, and flexibility.
Move & Groove
Switches between strengthening exercises and easy to follow cardio dance moves to make you workout in
full range of motion and groove to fun beats to get your blood flowing.
Fascia class
with simple self-massage techniques using tennis balls and simple fascia stretches the class will make you
feel refreshed and energized for your day ahead.
Gentle Yoga
focus on a slower pace and mindful movements, suitable for all levels, especially beginners, emphasize relaxation, stress reduction, and improving body awareness. involve floor-based poses, gentle stretching,
and breathwork. Please, Bring your own Yoga Mat.
