  • Personal items: Riders are responsible for all personal items. Personal items include medications, medical documents, and medical equipment. All baggage and other items must fit comfortable on the client’s lap.

  • Grocery Store Purchases: Riders must be able to carry all items purchased in one or two trips to and from the vehicle. Additionally, it is not the driver’s responsibility if purchased items do not fit into the vehicle. Passengers will have to make other arrangements to transport larger items or return them.
  • Appointment Reminder System: Rides are required to provide a correct phone number so the Appointment Reminder System can call the rider and provide a reminder of their upcoming transportation reservation or advise of any scheduling/provider changes.

All Medicaid covered trips must be approved before travel is confirmed. Most Medicaid covered services go through MDHHS for approval.

Medicaid Member services we cover – at no cost to you. You can get a ride for visits to your:

  • Provider
  • Dental provider
  • Pharmacy
  • Behavioral health care

UMCH partners with various payers to provide transportation. The fares for these trips are typically covered by the partnering agency and must be approved before travel is confirmed.

If you are on private insurance, some plans cover Non-Emergency Medical Transportation rides. Check with your insurance provider for details. UMCH Non-Emergency Medical Transportation does not bill insurance directly. Clients are provided an invoice for services that the client then submits to their insurance provider. All private pay clients must pay at the time of service.
